Potassium hexafluorophosphate is used to prepare 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexaflurorphospahte and other organic hexafluorophospahte compounds such as alkylaryliodonium hexafluorophopahtes and triarylsulfonium hexafluorophosphates. It is also used in the cationic polymerization reactions as photo initiators. It involves in producing catalyst for peptide coupling reactions.

Kaliumhexafluorphosphat wird zur Herstellung von 1-butyl-3-methylimidazoliumhexafluorphosphat und anderen organischen Hexafluorphosphatverbindungen wie Alkylaryliodoniumhexafluorphosphate und Triarylsulfoniumhexafluorphosphate verwendet. Es wird auch in kationischen Polymerisationsreaktionen als Photoinitiator verwendet. Es wird zur Herstellung von Katalysatoren für Peptidkopplungsreaktionen verwendet.
